Professional photographer Rupert 'Jack' Clegg has lived and worked on Exmoor all his life.

Apprenticed to a photographer, he progressed to commercial photography and then joined the Police Service before an accident forced early retirement. After his recuperation and although he will always have mobility issues, he set up his own photography business in 2001. Now a thriving concern, our portfolio incorporates landscape and wildlife photography workshops and courses, an online gallery and some commission work.

Jack is known for his stunning wildlife and landscape images. 

Jack has also been approached and contracted by the National Trust to create and teach a bespoke workshop at a local attraction.

His work is regularly published, and he donates images to several wildlife charities such as Somerset Wildlife Trust. His book, Life Through My Lens, is the first in a planned series.

Our office/studio is based in the beautiful seaside town of Minehead 'the gateway to Exmoor'. He has been married to his fantastic wife Alison for over 30 years and has three ‘grown up’ children who are also interested in photography and art. 

Jack is very good at ‘pitching’ the day to each individual’s skill level, from complete beginners to keen amateurs. He will pass down his wealth of knowledge in a friendly, non-technical way, always giving clear and concise explanations with everything we do. Jack says, "Having run these courses for several years now I am pretty good at assessing when someone understands the topic we are on before we move onto the next one. My customer understanding is paramount in all we do. I get a real sense of satisfaction when a customer starts the day with little or no photographic knowledge, but by the end of the day they are starting to 'get it' this for me is exactly what the courses are all about. It’s always a pleasure when someone has a 'light bulb' moment with something they had previously not fully understood. I really enjoy the courses, in particular meeting new customers, familiarising them with their own cameras and giving people the skills to take better pictures while enjoying a new hobby."

Jack was trained to a very high ‘advanced’ standard to drive while in the service.

We use a new Ford Kuga Hybrid that will comfortably seat 3 guests and their equipment, the vehicle is maintained to a very high standard, it has dual zone air conditioning for your comfort and heated seats! The vehicle is fitted with a ‘cold climate pack’ heated windscreen etc.  Although we do not intend to go ‘off road’ and ‘bounce’ you and your camera equipment about while on the course, the vehicle is fitted with ‘all weather’ tyres that give enhanced traction. We carry a BSI compliant (BS-8599-1) first aid kit on board & a fire extinguisher.
