Thinking of booking photography course with us but perhaps don’t

have a camera or the right lens?

Camera hire prices start from as little as £32.00 (includes kit lens) for

the duration of the course (full day).

We now offer the following cameras and lenses for hire here at Exmoor Photography.

Please contact us and we will help you choose and make sure the equipment you would like to hire is suitable for the course you are booking.

(Our Hire Equipment is only available to customers completing one of our workshops).

INSTRUCTIONS

  • IMPORTANT: You are currently on the equipment hire page, don't forget to book and pay for your workshop/course using the book now page if you have not done so already, thank you.
  • Equipment hire is subject to availability and is done on a first come first served basis.
  • Therefore, we recommend hiring equipment at the time of booking your workshop/course.
  • Please complete step 1 Online booking form equipment hire only.
  • Please choose your lens hire option # from the drop-down box.
  • Please complete all sections of the below form (equipment hire only) and click BIG RED BUTTON to submit.
  • Please select your equipment step 2 and pay (PayPal secure online shopping cart).
  • Once we have received payment for the lens hire a receipt will be emailed to you. Please bring this with you on the day of your workshop/course.
  • All equipment will be clean and in good working order, batteries (including spares) will be fully charged.
  • If hiring a camera, you will need to bring your own memory card, we recommend at least a 32GB / if R5 then 64GB+ SD card.
  • Please note we do not charge or take a deposit for the equipment value as we will be with you on the course. All you pay for is the hire fee.
  • All our hire equipment is fully insured (subject to our T&C's)
  • Don't forget we have tripods, monopods, camera slings & filters for you to use free of charge, during the workshop/courses when relevant.
  • Please note that courses may be postponed if adverse weather conditions are forecast. Jack keeps a close eye on the weather forecast and may postpone the course the day before if necessary. We will phone you by 4.00 pm the day before the course date, if required. We do not expect our customers to participate on the courses, in pouring rain or fog. We can control most things, but not the weather! In the event of a postponement, we will re-book your workshop/course as soon as possible on a mutually agreeable date, may not be the same season. (As per T&C’s). This will of course include any equipment hire you have paid for as well.
  • A refund will only be given if the course is cancelled, and an alternative date is not offered.

Option#1 Canon Mirrorless R7 Digital Camera

Canon EOS R7: This camera is an amazing piece of technology. It is worth using for the focus system alone. The new eye detection system is phenomenal when set up properly. This has been updated and improved from the already very good R5. This is a really good camera from complete beginners to use and is also a fantastic hybrid mirrorless camera for more experienced enthusiast. A great choice for wildlife photography but also good for other genres including landscapes. Great IQ (image quality) and IBIS (image stabilization) up to 8 stops. The body is also nice and light at only 530g.

This camera hire comes complete with an EF-EOS R Control Ring Adapter this works best with Canon EF EF/S mount lens if you don’t have any RF mount lenses.

Option#2 Canon Mirrorless R5  Digital Camera

Canon Mirrorless R5: is a full frame R system camera. Capture sensational 45-megapixel photos at up to 20 frames per second, advanced AF is programmed using deep-learning artificial intelligence, while in-body image stabilization works in concert with a lens’s own IS to provide up to 8 stops of protection against camera shake. 

I am truly blown away by the IQ (image quality) and the new focus features this camera offers such as eye detect technology. For fast action photography this really is a game changer.

While this camera is aimed at more competent to professional photographers it is also suitable for complete beginners with no working knowledge of basic camera settings. And in my opinion is relatively user friendly, especially with jack alongside to help you.

Canon 10-18mm F4.5-5.6 IS STM EF-S: This lens offers terrific value for money and can produce very nice images indeed. In fact, I have printed images from it for customers and the quality is right up there with much more expensive lenses. It offers ultra-wide-angle EF-S zoom lens that lets you fit more in every shot for dramatic landscapes, sweeping cityscapes and expressive architectural images. The lens offers a minimum focusing distance of 0.22m, which allows you to get close to your subject and create eye-catching images with exaggerated perspectives. The lens' 4-stop optical Image Stabiliser (IS) uses a lens shift-type system to detect and correct camera shake and allows shooting handheld in low light situations. This is an ideal lens option for the 4hr Taster Workshop or the Standard Landscape Course.

Canon EF 100 mm f2.8L Macro IS USM: This is my go-to lens for macro photography. It is excellent at either handheld or tripod-based macro photography, producing razor sharp images as you would expect from a Canon L class lens. I have also used this lens many times for landscape, food and portrait photography. This has to be one my favourite Canon prime lenses. Hire fee includes if required: Canon Extension Tube EF25 II

Canon EF 500mm f/4 L IS USM MKII (1x available): A favourite for wildlife photography, this is Jacks old faithful, a superb lens for wildlife photography at the next level. Produces incredibly sharp images and works very well in low light conditions. We supply the lens for the day of your course complete with a Wimberley Head and Gitzo carbon fibre tripod (FOC). This is an ideal lens option for any of our birding or wildlife courses.

This lens is a significant improvement over the mark1. I have owned and used both. It delivers exceptionally sharp images and is easier to use than the old model. It is a great option for wildlife, macro and even landscape photography. It also works very well with our new 1.4-mark III converter. These are ideal lens options for the Red Deer Rut Specials.

Ideal for use with our Canon 500mm lens and will extend the focal length up to 896mm (cropped sensor only). (NB please check with us to confirm that this converter will fit/auto focus with your lens).
Please note: that we only recommend using his converter on Canon cameras and lenses.
